Ask the Coach: Nutrition Advice

Question

Nutrition is hard to understand because there are so many conflicting pieces of information. What would all people involved in nutrition agree on?

Answer

pictureThe truth is that everyone in the world has an idea on nutrition. If you were to hold up an apple and a doughnut in the air and ask someone which one is healthy, the answer would almost definitely be the apple. The problem lies in that when people enter a shop and have to make a choice between the two they opt for the doughnut. No one has ever eaten anything by accident. It’s a conscience decision they make which will have positive or negative consequences depending on the decision.

Nutritionists thoughts vary but if everyone was locked in a stadium until they came up with an agreement it would be to eat more vegetables. Vegetables provide nutrients and minerals to the body but in our times of our stress they provide much needed alkalinity. It is important to maintain a balance between acid foods, proteins, grains, exercise and stress with alkaline foods like certain fruits and vegetables.

Another idea to see if your mentor has got the answers you seek in nutrition will be reflected in their own body-shape. They should look like the finished product you want to be as all professions should be their walking talking business card. What they tell you may not be lies, but they just may not be educated to give you the answers you seek yet.
